GAP has a new logo sorta.

You know you want to say something to management. It looks like a time warp to the early 80's when computers had two typefaces to choose from and we all discovered gradients. What's up with the gradient square?

Whataya think?

I saw this at Agency Spy who saw this at Skinny.

I'm having a WTF moment.

I'm not a typophile, but isn't that just the word Gap set in Helvetica w/a slightly altered "G" with a blue square with a gradient? There HAS to be more to this story (please, let there be more).

Maybe I'm turning into that old guy that doesn't think anything should change...but I really don't understand why the old logo needed to go.

I need to read the design explanation on his.

Lee, I had a similar moment this morning. It was like typographic-revulsion or logo-gag-reflex.

I couldn't find an excuse or reasoning anywhere.

I thumbed through a 1996 copy of CA. I feel better now.
