Brands are the new record label

Been saying it right here for years. Now the NY Times backs me up. Don't look for an A&R person from a label, look for Music loving Brand Manager to get you first/next hit out there. Don't try and sign with Sony Records, talk to their ad agency for best results. Thangs done changed.

But I'll do you one better and say brands will become the purveyors of all culture; Art, music, literature, etc. Brands will host our e-books; our vooks; our pop-up museums; and our future colosseums. We aint seen nothing yet, there are so many opportunities for brands to underwrite and fund your fun it aint funny.

Check it out.

Agree wholeheartedly with the idea. But, as with everything in advertising and marketing, it's all in the execution- and it begins with understanding that equity is earned in committing over time, not just when it's a la mode and convenient.

I wrote about this for my agency's blog a few months back (http://bit.ly/d5hGNU) and it's encouraging to see that there are other likeminded and passionate advocates for this...

Keep doing your thing with the content here... very fresh.
