Igor Martinovic recently directed this glorious speculative commercial for Adidas and thought he would share it here with us here @ KMBA. Igor is a Director of Photography based in New York and this spec is his directorial debut inspired by the first World Cup ever taking place on the African continent. The ad was actually shot on a Long Island (NY) beach with a small crew and cast of local kids from NYC.
BIO:
Igor was Director of Photography for Man on Wire – winner of ACADEMY AWARD 2009 for Best Documentary; BAFTA for Best British Film 2009 among other awards. Igor was also DP on feature film Padre Nuestro that won the Grand Jury Prize for Dramatic Category at Sundance FF 2007. In addition Igor was a DP on numerous other acclaimed films and videos. Igor is looking to venture into world of advertising and Adidas spec commercial is his directorial debut.

Seriously. This is too easy. So the only way he can imagine Africa is the old tattered ball in a desolate backdrop--obligatory shanty town present. Tick--and you guys think it is brilliant.
Sean, good point. I don't know if it is the only way he can imagine Africa, but it is a too often depiction. I thought the concept was very well done. I didn't really consider the common backdrop. Thanks for pointing that out.
