Black audience for the Oscars dropped to nearly half of last year's viewers
With all of the talk preceding this year's Academy Awards about the total absence of black nominees, it's no surprise that the number of African-Americans that tuned in dropped by 42.7 percent from last year's record-setting high. The 2.4 million that tuned in was the lowest black Oscar audience in the past three years.

The most watched TV network title remained with CBS, which had 13 million for its 11 shows on the Top 25 of the week. ABC followed with 9.5 million for 7 of its programs. Fox finished third with 6.4 million across four shows.

According to Nielsen, the total number of viewers watching the Top 25 for the last week of February was virtually the same as the previous week's 32.6 million.
