Where I'm From: Chronicling the Career of a Cultural Icon

From his humble beginnings in Marcy Projects to his perch atop the world of pop culture, Jay-Z’s storied career has produced some of the most iconic and memorable lyrics hooks in music history.  His unique talent for lyrically conveying the “beautiful struggle” has earned him a cadre of loyal and passionate fans that hang on every beat, every rhyme, and every step of Jay-Z’s real-life, rags-to-riches journey.

Commemorating the release of his forthcoming anthology, “The Hits Collection, Volume One,” AgencyNet and Def Jam have launched a digital retrospective of the life and times of Jay-Z.  Tracing his roots from Marcy to Madison Square Garden and beyond, the site chronicles Jay’s career through music, video, career milestones and more. True to Jay-Z’s aesthetic, the site is designed with a premium high-gloss, right down to the black and white iconic photography –available to true fans as a companion coffee table book on November 22nd.

“When releasing an anthology for an artist as storied as Jay-Z, you’re delivering more than an album- you’re telling the story of an iconic career,”explains Richie Cruz, Digital Strategist for AgencyNet. “In creating the online exhibit, we wanted visitors to experience Jay’s career through his eyes and voice.  We deliberately didn’t feature Jay in any of the section imagery – rather we wanted visitors to essentially become Jay and relive the journey as him.”

Def Jam Recordings and AgencyNet partner to launch “JAYZHITSCOLLECTION.COM”, a digital Jay-Z retrospective

Impressive. Really dig the big photos and text...and of course the "all black everything"

I forget sometimes how masterful of a career he's had. Really goes to show how much progress one can make
