Introducing the Afrobeat font

Inspiration
The pounding tribal rhythms of Afrobeat music is expressed through this psychedelic brand new font, Afrobeat. Every letter becomes art as every letter is elegantly placed side by side, like music notes, creating music for the eyes.

Afrobeat is a musical style performed by many African artists such as Fela Kuti, Femi Kuti, Antibalas and many more, which is a fusion of jazz, funk, and psychedelic rock, originating from the 60s and was based on the political movements of Nigeria.
The Font

This font is perfect for when you want to use eye-catching big texts for anything from posters and flyers for concerts, events, parties, to CD covers, advertisements, and art, but it´s especially striking for printed projects.

It's nice...looks close to what I've been developing for the past year or so as a matter of fact...http://type.akofa.com/steadyrockin/. But I'm not hatin'...

They need to get their facts straight though...Afrobeat music is based from HighLife, Makossa and the various other polyrhythmic indigenous music from West Africa not just out of Nigeria's turbulent political situation.

And does it support African languages? I don't want to be a stickler but as a type designer (as well as many other things) if you are not cognizant of the fact that African languages need support like all the other standard font sets (a.k.a. European languages) then you shouldn't attach Africa influentially or culturally to this...otherwise you look like you are using Africa for it's influence rather than helping it move forward totally...

Sorry if this comes off grouchy but this is something that's close to my heart and it happens to much in the type design world for my taste...

Do it!!! I cannot wait to use it!

I haven't purchased a font in a while but I just had to have this one.

The character styling is amazing & the name alone makes me want to fire up some Fela Kuti in this joint!

Tafari...It's completely cool that you had to have Afrobeat right now( I've felt the same way about some typefaces myself)...you will be the first one on the list that I contact when I drop anything out of AKOFAType ...I just need your info though...and I didn't forget you either Craig, you're on the list as well!

Craig...Got them fonts! Whole catalogs...got that Hoefler Frere-Jones catalog...got that Adobe Type Folio...got that House Industries! Full opentype glyphs no missing characters! Just kidding...

I'm not dealing...I just have a good amount of them and lot invested in typography...most of the ones I have are for R&D...the others are fully licensed but since I make them buying them seems pointless at times. And I'm not a font nazi...just passionate about people of the African diaspora getting a fair shake in the graphic/web/typographic aspects of the biz...My splinter company (AKOFAType) was really justified when I was told at a type conference by a big name in the industry that no one in the type industry (including himself) thinks to support African languages out of sheer laziness and not wanting to do it... So I thought to myself if they will not...I will.
