The Mother Of All Stereotypes. ((taken from Multicultclassic))

((This is a repost from multicultclassics.blogspot.com))
You can’t choose your mom… but Kleenex managed to stereotype the role via its inane promotion. The Black mom is overweight and street smart. The Latino mom wears colorful flower patterns and speaks of traditions and wisdom. The Asian mom looks really smart. Not sure about the White mom—a tribute to Golden Girls’ Bea Arthur perhaps? See more m*therf#ck//ng stereotypes here.

WHY are there so many white moms and the site, and only three women of color? And why is everyone dressed nicely but the black mom is wearing the sweatsuit? And don't even get me started on that ugly ass fanny pack! It's amazing what you can uncover by simply giving an ad a second look.

Ambs, you are so right. The sad part is on a subconscious level the message has been imparted and the damage is done. Your mind reads that. The message comes across; black women: fat, frumpy, not stylish, overly accommodating smile, seems not to fit in, trying too hard... those things all come across.
