I grew up (like a lot of black folk) with a copies of these fable magazines fanned across many a coffee or side table. Who remembers your uncle/cousin/neighbor who was a hardcore collector of these periodicals. My best freind from a very young age was stacking them deep! I hope we can keep this valuable institution alive in the light of these tough financial times for the printed word.
